Program Run Through: VSO Inspector

Here we can see the first screen on VSO Inspector. This one gives information about your CD or DVD drives. By clicking on the Device section a the top you can also see any other drives that you have installed and see what they can do too. One helpful features is the “Check For Firmware Update” button. This will connect to the net check your drive and firmware version and see if there is an update for it.

The second tab, Media, will give you information regarding the media that this currently in the drive. If it is a DVD then it will also include information about the region information on the DVD along with other small nuggets of info. One nifty little feature here is that if you can check your media with the VSO database to see the number of successes of burning it with the currently selected drive.

The third tab is the Scan tab. This allows you to scan your media to see what condition your disc is in. By having a disk in the drive all you need to do is to select Surface or File scan, you can also select both and to then click on the Start button.

The program will first do the Surface scan on the disk. This is basically used to see how easy it is to read the data off of the disk through the scratches on it.

The next scan is the File scan. This is used to check to make sure that the files on the disk can be read from and therefore copied off of the disk.

The forth tab is the System tab. This will show you some information regarding your CD or DVD hardware filters.

That’s it for this application.
